About Us

Scouts BSA Troops 127 & 7127

Troops 127 & 7127 are inclusive and welcoming troops for girls and boys that meet on the North side of Madison, Wisconsin. The troops are open to all kids age 11 to 17 to participate. Meetings occur weekly at Lakeview Lutheran Church which is centrally located to Madison, Sun Prairie, DeForest, Waunakee, and other communities. Both troops are chartered by Wild Warner, Inc. which is a nonprofit advocacy group for the wild side of Warner Park in Madison.

Scouts learn lifelong leadership and group dynamics skills while having fun participating in troop meetings, campouts, outings, adventures, and trips!

Proven Results

Scouts BSA continues to create generations of leaders and outstanding citizens by allowing boys and girls to explore their interests, serve their communities, and discover their talents through youth-led activities like hiking, camping, and volunteering.

Achievement & Recognition

Advancement is our method of promoting and encouraging ongoing involvement and commitment to keep youth engaged in the adventure! Scouts progress from rank to rank as they work their way up to the rank of Eagle Scout.

Youth Protection & Barriers to Abuse

Our Troop adheres to Scouting's Barriers for Abuse program. All adult leaders and volunteers are required to complete a criminal background check and complete Youth Protection training through the national council.

Cost

The investment to be a Scout is minimal in relation to the lifetime of benefit. As of April 1, 2024, dues are $165 per year for Scouts to join the program. Registration for adult leaders is $125 per year. Outing costs are shared evenly among those that participate.

Weekly Troop Meetings

We meet every Thursday from 6:30-8:00pm at Lakeview Luthern Church in the lower level (4001 Mandrake Rd, Madison, WI 53704). Meetings include rank advancement, merit badge sessions, skill building exercises, games, and planning for future events.

Monthly Outings

The troops organize a camping trip or day-trip activity each month. Highlights include camping at local state parks in the summer, overnight cabin outings in the cold months, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, downhill skiing, canoeing, and more.

Week-Long Summer Camp

Each summer, the troops attend a week at a local Scout camp. Scouts are immersed in the outdoors while working on rank advancement, merit badges, and fun activities like swimming, boating, climbing, shooting sports, handicraft, and much more.

High Adventure Expeditions

A week-long trip each summer allows advanced Scouts to go backpacking, paddling, sailing, or on another adventure. Scouts learn the intricacies of the selected activity as well as mastering leadership, group-dynamics, planning, and preparedness.

Alumni

Eagle Scouts

The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program. Only a small percentage of Scouts receive this prestigious rank which requires earning 21 merit badges and leading a service project. Our unit is very proud of the Eagle Scouts who have achieved this rank, including those who have earned the rank as members of units that have merged into our current troops.
